Ongoing support needed to keep Pacific Solo afloat
Now, on to 2021. I am grateful for the sponsors who have joined me in 2020 and 2021. I am still in need for sponsorship to finish the final upgrades to ensure a safe and efficient crossing of the Pacific. My aim was to be 80% ready by the end of January so that I can do a practice voyage to Okinawa and back. That goal was achieved. But, I will need further upgrades in April and therefore I am looking at the need for 3-4 more sponsors.
Sponsorship is needed for 3 primary purposes:
- Sailing
- Safety
- Education
I need sponsors who will keep me going , those who want to keep me safe, and those who want to keep others learning - support the learning project for students, schools, and families.
Other ways you can support Pacific Solo
There are various ways in which you can support this initiative including:

*By these simple actions, you put wind in my sail and help me reach critical thresholds with YouTube and other Social Media that are critical to sharing the message and raising support.
Keep Me Going
To keep Wahine moving she needs to have all her energy sources in order. Most of the journey will be made under wind power but she will also rely on solar and wind energy as well as at times her diesel engine. Whether by cash sponsor or goods in kind, your sponsorship will keep Wahine and me on the move.
Wahine will need to be refitted with such equipment asnew sails, riggings, lines, solar, hydrdovane (self steering), etc.
An estimated $75,000 will be needed to keep Lowell and Wahine sailing.
Keep Me Safe
To keep Lowell safe along the way he needs to be kept dry, fed, rested, watered, in contact with the land team,and in the case of emergency, everything needed to survive at sea.
What's needed for this includes new hatches, a water maker, electric stove, life-raft, ERB, communications and electronics, etc.
An estimated $30,000 will be needed to keep Lowell safe.
Keep Others Learning
The Great Pacific Learning Project: bringing the classroom to the North Pacific. Working with Students and teachers to become an extension of their classroom.
Funding needed for educational resources to be an extended classroom for selected students and families who will be conducting experiments along the way.
An estimated 15,000 will be needed to keep others learning.
